Hull NATURAL MAHOGANY
Owner PAUL WILLIAMS
[/ezcol_1half] [ezcol_1half_end]Year 2012
Owner Paul Williams built this boat from drawings by Ken Bassett over a two-year period. The hull was built by one foot wide planks of quarter inch Okome plywood laid diagonally over transverse stringers. Following that, an outer layer of solid 1/4″ Honduras mahogany planks were glued down with epoxy the length of the hull. Third, Wililams did a lot of sanding and many coats of varnish to finish the hull. Finally, he completed all the metal parts, which he made out of brass and then chrome plated. Everything–including seats and the trailer–was built by Williams. When he finished, he quickly started work on a more practical 20 Runabout that he now keep in the summer months at a lake in the Sierras. He is now also starting on a 30′ Glass-Cabin Launch that he hopes to have done in two to three years. Building boats is a true hobby and passion of Williams’.
