Steve Sandborg 

Steve Sandborg is a plein air artist from Dana Point, California who has a passion for capturing the beauty of coastal scenes, landscapes, and harbors, often with a focus on boats. He studied art at UCLA while earning an Economics degree. Then a 40-year career in marketing and advertising limited his time for personal creativity. So, it wasn’t until recent years that he was able to fully explore his love of painting. He grew up in Southern California and is an avid sailor, scuba diver and outdoorsman. His love of the ocean and adventure has enabled him to explore some of the most spectacular coastlines in the world while also appreciating the amazing coastal scenes only a short drive from his home. He works primarily in oil and paints both on location as well as in the studio with reference photos and studies from his travels. 

Steve’s work can be seen at the Studio 7 Gallery in Laguna Beach. In recent years, he has participated in various art shows including Art-A-Fair (Laguna Beach), Back Bay Show, and Dana Point Art Fest. He is currently President of the Southern California Plein Air Painters Association, and is also a member of the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association.
