Polycon is a 35-foot CSK catamaran designed by Rudy Cheoy and built by Warren Seaman in Los Angeles.  She was built in 1968 for actor, Buddy Ebsen, star of Beverly Hillbillies and Barnaby Jones and was designed for good performance as both a competitive racer and comfortable cruiser without a large crew.  She was essentially a new design for her size, incorporating the design and sailing experience of Imua, Pattycat II.  Her scantlings are very light and the deck layout simple and functional.  She won the 1969 Multihull TransPac on corrected time, beating out the first boat to finish, Seasmoke, a 58-foot CSK catamaran owned by Ebsen’s friend and competitor, actor James Arness.

Like most CSK catamarans Polycon was built of cold-molded plywood over a spruce frame.  She’s made with resorcinol glue, not epoxy since Seaman, her builder, was allergic to epoxies of the 1960’s.
