Celebrating The "Art & Craft Of The Wooden Boat": Newport Beach Wooden Boat Festival Is Even Better In 2024! June 7-8, 2023

Newport Beach, CA – (February 12, 2024)

The theme for the 2024 Newport Beach Wooden Boat Festival is “The Art & Craft Of The Wooden Boat” in celebration of the creative artistry, intricate craftsmanship, and timeless beauty of wooden boats. It invites attendees to immerse themselves in an art form that has been around for centuries. From the fine woodworking techniques to the artistic details adorning these boats, this year’s theme captures the essence of the passion and artistry that go into creating these magnificent watercraft. Join us at the festival to explore the intersection of art and craftmanship in the world of wooden boats, where tradition meets innovation on the shimmering waters of Newport Beach.

Come and explore the art & craft of over 40 beautiful wooden watercraft. Walk the docks and board these floating works of art. Stroll the Balboa Yacht Club shoreline to see some of the craftsmen and the tools they use to keep these boats in “Bristol” condition. Watch as some of our local Plein Air Artists capture the beauty of the boats in Newport Harbor during the festival. Take a few moments to visit the model boat exhibit, see what a wooden hull looks like out of the water or listen to a guest speaker share their tall tales and experiences. Cap your visit by stepping back in time to cruise aboard the America, a replica of the iconic 139-foot sailing yacht that forever etched its name in sailing history.

You are invited to be a part of history at the Inaugural Opening Night for the 2024 Newport Beach Wooden Boat Festival. The evening will offer the first opportunity to step aboard the famed sailing yacht America and a chance to stroll the docks for early viewing of some of the amazing wooden boats invited to this year’s Festival. It will also provide an opportunity to meet this year’s featured craftsman, David Lake, this year’s featured artist, Kim Gordon, and preview several other exhibits. Enjoy specialty cocktails and appetizers before dinner which will include music and a live auction of curated experiences.

Hosted by Balboa Yacht Club, the event is made possible through a collaboration with the City of Newport Beach, the County of Orange, and Visit Newport/Newport Beach & Co. For more information, visit call (949) 353-9752.
